0 Ishiyoshi
I have moved your post out from its original location as it has nothing to do with the topic in question. Which freeware did you use to encode the MPEG-4 video? Nonetheless, ensure that: the MP4/AVC video you have encoded has its filename as "M4Vxxxxx.MP4" or "MAQxxxxx.MP4." Otherwise, it will not be recognized by the PSP for video playback. If it is a regular MP4 video, you may need to rename the file to "M4Vxxxxx.MP4" or re-encode if it's AVC. Note: there should be 5 random numbers following M4V/MAQ and a complimentary "M4Vxxxxx.THM" or "MAQxxxxx.THM" file which should be kept same all the way. Every MPEG-4 video file on your PSP is associated with a small THM file. This .THM file includes info that enables thumbnail view within the video listing section of the PSP. In addition, the extensions of the files (MP4) mustn't be changed and the letter should be capital; you have this folder within your PSP --> "x:\MP_ROOT\100MNV01," where "x" is the drive letter of your PSP.*regular MP4 (or known as SP) file name is M4Vxxxxx.MP4, AVC file name is MAQxxxxx.MP4
0 hanrik
Hello, thanks my friend. After I renamed the videos as per your advice, they all work. Great, cool, very good resolution.I use the shareware IamToo PSP Converter, is the recommended Image Converter from SONY a better product? But IC is more expensive. IamToo costs US$19 only.Last but not least, I have enabled WMA playing, but still the PSP cannot read the .WMA clips in the same folder. Any idea? Thanks! I'm glad it works for you. I am not familiar with the shareware you've employed, but I personally utilize PSP Video 9 for AVC encoding (it's a freeware). It's much more flexible than Image Converter 2 Plus. Last but not least, I have enabled WMA playing, but still the PSP cannot read the .WMA clips in the same folder. Any idea? Thanks!Have you enabled WMA Playback option when you first update your PSP to firmware version 2.6? If you have not, please do so within PSP's "System Settings" menu. Accordingly, select "Enable WMA Playback" and the onscreen instructions will guide you to a WMA-enabled experience. Note: WMA9 Professional, WMA9 Lossless and copyright-protected WMA files are not supported.
0 hanrik
Ok, I will try the video convertor you mention. Thanks. For WMA Playback, yes, I did enabled it in System Settings after firmwware upgrade. The enable was done very fast through PSP wireless connection to my acess point. You mentioned about some nline instructions, I can;t remember I had to do any step.I just need to say YES to it, then I assume the Playback has been enabled. Did I do the right thing?

Do check if your WMA audio file falls into any of these: WMA9 Professional, WMA9 Lossless and copyright-protected WMA --> these files are not supported by the PSP. 0 hanrik
Hello Ishiyoshi,I checked the WMA files already, they are not WMA9 or the others you mentioned.I put these files in the same folder as MPEG-4 files, do I need to put them inside another folder? Else PSP can;t read them?Another thing is, PSP would be more perfect if they have a HDD. Maybe the next version!
