My wife got a present of a NW-E003, which she was delighted with - unaware that it was not exactly Linux-friendly (we don't have any Windows boxes in our house). So I got it going by setting up a VMWare/Win2K virtual machine on my Linux laptop, installing Sonic Stage on that, and configuring the virtual network to access mp3s on my NFS server. Everything's fine so far.
Now, I've been reading up on the 2.0 firmware version, and I'm thinking the upgrade should work over the same setup, but I'd like to ask the experts here - does the fw upgrade process use any different/unusual/non-standard methods to access the player? I would like to establish, if possible, if this is going to work on this kind of emulated setup, before I try it - the principal objective being not to fry my wife's current favourite thing.
