E003/E005 - few questions (sound quality, etc)

Question

Hello everybody!

Could you please help me. I'm going to buy sony E005 player, so I've got some questions. May be you've got the answers.

1. Does E005 share the same audio hardware as previous E40x/E50x series?

(I had E407 player - stolen yesterday.... =( )

In fact I'm also interested if E00x use the same audio chip as HD/A series players.

Did anyone compare them from the standpoint of sound quality (E00x with HD/A)?

2. AFAIK, E005 also suffers from poor volume level... How is it in comparison to E40x/E50x?

I hope it is not quiter than Ex0x were?

(My previous E407 sometimes was not good. Some music recorded at low recording level can be hardly heard in loud places even using MAX volume level... Espessialy some rock/classics...)

3. AFAIK E005 has MANUAL EQ.

Is it possible to make the volume a bit louder using EQ settings (setting all bands to +6dB for example) . Will it alter the sound quality? (may be clipping?)

I'm also interested in what bands are equalized =) (50Hz/ 200Hz / 1000Hz/ 5000Hz / 10000 - am I right?)

4. AFAIK, E005 supports USB 2.0. What actual transfer rates does E00x support?

My E407 was terrible - only 600-700kb/sec....

5. And about volume UNLOCK. Is it still impossible? May be some new information? =)))

Thank you in advance! Sorry for poor English =)

Hi , maybe i can help with some of your questions

1. it uses the sonicstage, but probably later version, like CE-P 4.0. I dont know if it supports earlier versions.

3 i think it is possible, donno about changes in sound quality, but a big chance (using my common sense)

4 please refer to your manual booklet that came along with your player

5 i have read latest news about volume unlock, still not possible

i myself dont own a E005, so i am not familiar with many parts of your questions, sorry about that. Hope u will enjoy the new walkman :)
