Hollowterrapin
Well I went and did something stupid! I have a NW-HD3 walkman and have it filled up to the 20gig limit. Although Sonicstage never gave me as many headaches as others complain about, I still thought it would make 'sense' to upgrade to 3.3 as I thought it would maybe be faster. So I went to download.com, downloaded the latest version (it was actually 4.0) and then the program said it the atrac device could not be used with this version of Sonicstage. d'oh! So I uninstalled and reinstalled 2.3.Problem solved, right? Wrong! Now version 2.3 won't recognize my walkman. I keep getting this message: "The Atrac Device cannot not be used with this version of Sonicstage"I don't understand what went wrong. If 2.3 worked before, it should work now, but it doesn't.At worse, I could delete my walkman, install 4.0 and re-populate it. But it's summer, I don't have that much time...I just want to add a few cd's I bought!Any advice out there?? Thanks for reading and replying if you can help. AntiPod
Hi there! i have experienced the same problem just a few days ago. I was using NW-E405 and had about 250 songs. I decided to initialize my walkman and restore the music. It took me a lot of time with 200 songs (including the time i spent on organizing everything). I wouldnt suggest u to do that. I remember the error says something like either initialize or reset your player. I remember back on the manual booklet, or the manuals flash (installed along with SS), says you wont lose any music imported in the device if u press "reset" button. Try to press "reset" if it ask u to reset it. Hope it will work.
Ishiyoshi
There's no way around this problem - you will have to initialize your unit as suggested by "AntiPod" before you can add new music tunes. The initialization issue happens when one upgrade SonicStage, or try to use one's device on a different PC. There are many discussions about this issue within the "Software" section of the forum – where a user using SonicStage (regardless version number) especially of US or European region are required to initialize their respective ATRAC device for every version update. If you are updating from a US or European version of SonicStage, you will likely experienced this cumbersome re-initialization issue. As I’ve mentioned countless of times – the only way I know of to avoid such tedious task is to utilize SonicStage Japanese, Asia-Pacific or the JEB (Overseas) version from the beginning. From my experience, re-initialization of the ATRAC device will never occur using the aforementioned SonicStage regional version. For your reference, please read this thread. For future reference, please backup your ATRAC library using SonicStage Backup Tool before upgrading to the next version.Good luck and report back if you need further assistance.*topic moved to its appropriate section of the forum
Hollowterrapin
There is no reset on my model except to reinitialize the hard disk...but this will delete everything (all 20gb) off my hd3, right?I'll call Sony support tomorrow... I'm really mad as the uk website says 4.0 supports all nw-hd series... and it clearly doesn't, unless you call erasing all your music on the walkman compatible... Re-initialization of the device will erase everything within. Please read my aforementioned post for further details.
