Question

Hi guys, i recently ordered an a3000. Haven't gotten it yet, but i'm looking forward to it!

I have a couple of questions about it though.

1. Is it possible to change the battery?

2. I'm thinking about swapping out the harddrive with something larger, do you know if there is anything in the firware that would prevent this? Where is the firmware stored, rom or hdd?

3. When playing MP3's does it still convert them on the fly, or has the new firmware given it native mp3 support?

Thanks

1. yes you can remove the battery, it is not easy like HD5 but it is removeable and I don't think you void the warrenty.

2. unlikely, someone tried a larger drive on here didn't work, the player could not read more than 20 gigs, unless you can figure out how to make it read more than 20, no point in swapping out.

3. no conversion of mp3 unless you ask it to convert, the program only wraps a layer of dRM around the files to make them look like OMA files but they are still mp3s.

Alright thanks guys!

So does that mean that there's actually no point in converting my mp3 files to atrac before transfering them to the player. Besides from the higher compression that is.

Ummm k. I might try the harddrive thing later, but thanks for the heads up.

And well... i just prefer to be able to swap the battery out myself, i've had some really bad experiences with li-ions crapping out before they were supposed to.

Does anyone know where you can buy a new battery, and how much it costs?
