Issues on dust collecting under the NW-E005 case

hello there, i have the nw-e005 mp3 player...brilliant music player better than the ipod nano

I have had this ever since it was first released in UK (a very long time ago) but now i have so much dust collected under the screen its just irritating

The dust gets through the gaps around the buttons and into the main screen where it messes up what you see on the screen

Does anyone know how you can remove the plastic casing to remove the dust...please it is very important as i cannot see the battery indicator and the shuffle icons on the screen

Everyone with these players has this issue... Take a look at the service manual if you can get the cover off and clean the dust out.

hey. if you open the usb cap, there mite be small screws that u can unscrew then u can take off the cap. Im just guessing because my nw-e507 is at the usb port. just check it, i may be right.

This happens to any electronics. Dust can get into the oddest places. The only way to get rid of them if to dismantle the unit's cover and blow the dust away. However, doing so might invite more dust to settle in, and will probably voided your warranty.

well i remove the usb cap and noticed the two small screws at the corner well one more thing which i noticed is that nwe005 has double shield i mean double casing so i m guessing if i unscrew the screws wil i been able to remove the front cover and does will i be able to get back it again. i have dandruff gathered the only geniune sol is to get it serviced by sony. well had any body tried removing the cover and also what abt the fwd and rwd buttons will they be dislocated by removing the cover.

A not-fully-effective-but-might-work-to-a-sufficient-level (phew) method is to use an air duster. Most air dusters have an extension tube that will fit into the headphone socket of any player, including the E005. Give it a quick blast and any crud excessively obscuring your view may go away.

I provide that info with the usual disclaimers, etc

you to be honest i suggest leaving it...ive tried it for 3-4 months from removing the screws on either side of the usb to throwing the damn thing at a wall...its just impossible...i guess we just gotta live with it...

I dont think the new mp3 players have any such problem but time will tell

well i think so that wont work bcoz nwe005 is sealed from allaround if u do it that way only things will move. and it is double shielded. so air duster wont help and also the dust only gets from the side of buttons and other places are shield well. well i am using a silicon skin with my unit. but only the problem from button side. i think after an year before u should get it service and they will fix it for u..

well i think so u r right may be we should leave it or get it serviced sony will fix it. and this the only issue with this player otherwise its very cool. yes it new model nwe016 had no such issue. and sony had fixed it

well u w r right but i love this unit and i think so nc is overpriced for 2 gb. well although its very cool but it dont have builtin usb conncetor. and i m waiting for nwe016 its more cool design and sleaker than nwe005 and nws 705 units. i dont like the jog dial units.

well at the moment there is no sign of such of it happening...its safe to say sony have solved this problem so you can be confident in buying a new one...

The only thing you may need to be worried about is the volume output of the new player...i just hope it isnt as diabolical as the nw-e005

well the out put of my nwe005 is very loud i have it from usa. and on 20 my ear seems to get deaf i mostly listen to it on 12 and 16 seems to be quiet normal of course nwe016 has no hiss plus there is clear stereo and clear bass and plus it very sleek looking and it also have vpt effect. and it very nicely priced 4 gb 160 $ far cheaper than nws 705

oh right...i live in london so i have the euro volume capping on mine and believe me its very quiet when i use it on the train

well good luck i do reccomend buying a new one...i just sold my nw-s603 to get the nw-s706 woohoo
