When I have gone into the Maintanence and System section on my PC and selected ‘Re-Install Driver’ I just get an error message which states’ A Service installation section in this INF is invalid’ Does anyone know what this means ?? I have tried removing all the software and re-installing it and it still doesn’t work… aargh, i use windows XP media edition Please help Al x

Welcome to AtracLife !

THis usually happens when driver files are not copied to the correct folder. Make sure that you have Administration Rights on your computer during installation.

On many Forums I have read that people have to reinstall Windows Xp to overcome this kind of problem (I hope you will not a have to do that )

Also ,Install SonicStage ver4.2 (If you haven't done that ).

From here download the drivers & ,then try to install it again .

Hi!

I have exactly the same problem. The NW-E005 doesn't show up in windows explorer and sonic stage can't see it either. I run XP Pro and I am the administrator. I tried plugging the thing in every USB port on the PC but no cigar. The firmware upgrade program can't find it either.

Which is the correct folder to install the driver files? Maybe doing this manually would help?

Thanks!

I know this was posted a while ago, but I too have the same problem as the original post. I'm on Windows XP Pro. Did anyone manage to solve the problem? Thanks. Sazzy.

Try googling the exact error message, "A Service installation section in this INF is invalid". There is a lot dicussion about this. It seems as though the message is not specific to Sony DAPs. Perhaps you can find a solution from those that are posted elsewhere.

Please report back what you learn.
