Which software to use for NW-A3000?

Back a few months i had to re transfer all my music and found the most stable means of doing this was the use of Sonic stage which resulted in me being un able to use the extended features of the player.

I'm going to format my player and re transfer the music across theres quite a lot of music i no longer listen to on the player.

My question is which Software is currently the most stable for transferring large volumes of music and will also allow me to make use of the extended features.

Its times like these i wish i had a player that supported drag and drop of files!!!!

I own A1200.

I always use Sonic Stage 4.2 (Now you can use SS 4.3 ) to transfer music over it .

I uses SS too. Sometimes I reload my whole 20 Gb library again on my A3000.

That usually goes well, but only if I leave the PC alone and have no other tasks running. Otherwise, I get error messsages.

I believe that the newest versions of Sonicstage do include full A-series support now. Can anyone verify that?

A word of caution - when I connected my A3000 to SS4.2 the filing system got completely messed up, became impossible to find anything by whatever search you tried. (Most stuff filed randomly under 'etc.') This has had to be resolved by initialising and re-importing all files, very very time consuming

Navsimpson - you are quite right in that all versions of SonicStage CP (ie 4.0 and later) do feature full support for the NW-A series of players.

Savage Hamster - If you have a player with music transferred by any version of SonicStage before (I think) version 4.2, the database on the player does get messed up when you connect to a PC with SS 4.2 installed. While this does not mean that the music becomes unplayable, it certainly does mess up the listings on the player screen. This is because the later versions of SS structure the database in a different way on the player (and if my A3000 is anything to go by, it now takes a fraction of the time to create its database after disconnecting from my PC). The only way round this is to re-initialise the player and re-transfer your music.

Thanks for the reply folks, i keep forgetting to lift my cable from work (needless to say its safely stuffed in my bag at the minute)

I wont worry about the structure getting messed with im going to do a complete format/defrag so everything is nice and fresh.

Whats the transfer rates like? i have ~ 16GB of music to throw across am i better transferring a few GB at a time or just queue the lot up and leave it for a few hours/days/weeks

Well that was blooming easy!!!

Sonic stage took ~ 15 minutes to import the music and a further ~40mins to put across 14GB of music with no kicking or screaming!!

Also all the advanced features ; artist link, shuffle etc are supported

Why couldnt sony have done this in the first place??
