hi everybody!

i am new to this community with my brand new NW-706F device ... great stuff.. but i am very unhappy with the Sonic Stage Software...

i am running a Vista Ultimate 32 bit system

first i tried to install the (with the package delivered) version 4.1 of Sonic Stage

This caused troubles with admin rights . i were not able to transfer songs.. with different errors

then i deinstalled it, and installed the 4.3 version...

this was a very bad idea... because now it even does not start anymore... !!!

with an error

Cannot start Sonic Stage because database is being used by another program or the database cannot be accessed for some other reason....

Error Code 00005e27

whats that!!!???

is there a possibility to wipe the database.... in fact i just started to import one CD.. so it would not matter....

thanks for any ideas

Welcome to AtracLife !

Even I had Problem Running SonicStage 4.3 on my friend's Laptop (I still need to figure out the cause of the problem ),but SonicStage 4.3 is working smoothly on my pc (Which also has Vista installed ).

Try to run the SOnicStage in Administrator mode by right clicking on the SonicStage Icon and then click on Run as Administrator .

Also install SS 4.3 over SS 4.1 .Don't unistall SonicStage 4.1

hi stuge...

thanks for your input

in the meantime i reinstalled SS43 completely... (uninstalled it, deleted files in c:\program files, deletid the sony reg keys in hkey_current_user, rebooted and reinstalled...

same error

when starting elevated with admin-privileges it brings up a new completely weired error.... it tries to run a db-restore tool... and the brings this error...

please look at the attached image..

it would be funny, if it weren't so sad

....any ideas? thanks a lot

PS: i am working also for a software company.. if we would do like sony, i think we would have been out of business already 20 years ago ;-)

try to create another user account in vista an do a fresh install on this account of 4.3

use a different directory as the installation destination. maybe that will work.

Lambert, i am also getting the same error when running the restore tool. I have tried a complete removal and the cleaning out the registry and files left on the disk and then reinstall...same error. The thing is I had 4.2 installed and it was working. it was the upgrade to 4.3 where it went all wrong...and this versions is meant to support vista. I have it working on my tablet which is running vista. This I upgraded from 4.2 with no issues, which is why I done the PC straight after, but the outcome is not the same. I get the impression that the installation of SS software is never consistant

hi kevin and ceres

it's really strange.... but it worked, when i switched to a different user account (thanx ceres)

the way how SonicStage stores data and settings is really confusing...

sony builds great hardware... (the sound of the NW706 is incredible good)... they should handover software development, to somebody who is able to do it ;-))

greetings

lambert

Hi guys,

I know that SSC{ 4.3 is supposed to be fixed zo it would work on Vista? right?

Weel, I've got a brand new laptop with Vista pre-installed on it. I installed SSCP 4.1 (wich came with my NW-S703FB and it workd smoothly so far...

So what were the issues with SSCP 4.1 running on vista?

I must say that Vista is annoying me since it needs to much from my PC so that I can't get the full potenial of My PC.

Therefore I dualbooted Vista so that I can use them both. And on winXP my PC is really racing!!!!

Vista is just too heavy, It's not fun anymore and its not practical to use...

Try uninstalling Sonicstage, remove as much as you can and also go to (assuming your drive is C) C:\Documents and Settings\ and looking for any Sonicstage related stuff in here. There's some stuff in All Users and in your User folder, this'll be where database related files are stored. Sorry this isn't very specific but I don't have access to my Sonicstage installation right now.

p.s. Remember to check the option to Show Hidden Files and Folders in Folder Options. And be careful in here.
