seXman
DSEE is something great, but my player, NW-E505 ,doesn't support it. Is there any software which can product atrac music with DSEE so that I can enjoy DSEE whithout hardware support?
navsimpson
Basically, no. The new nw-a800 series has DSEE built-in, but those are the only models that do. Sorry!-Nav

Avrin
If you have files at lower bitrates, for which the DSEE is especially efficient, you may play them in SonicStage with the DSEE enabled, and record the result to you MiniDisc unit via optical in Hi-SP. The result will sound somewhat better than the original.
cauldron
What the Sony staff said in the ITmedia interview, is that right now DSEE consumes a huge amount of computing power. The A800 has it, becasue its DSP has to be capable of decoding video. So when playing audio, that excessive capability gets channeled into processing DSEE. It's actually automatically disabled at very high bitrates (no need), and very low bitrates (too much lost data to do a reconstruction). So yes, the easiest way is to buy the A800 or a future Sony player that features DSEE.
