PhilF
Hi there - first post!Hardware – Sony NW HD-5Software – Sonicstage 4.3 and XP Media CentreHardware – Pentium 4 1000mhz, 1 gig ram.I’ve had my Sony NW HD-5 for 2 years and have had no real problems with it or with Sonicstage. But last week, I had to re-install XP and I then upgraded to Sonicstage 4.3. I have a folder with all of my tracks which have been ripped from my own CD’s with ATRAC but when I went to delete and add new tracks from My Library to my HD-5, I was advised that there was a ‘Cannot find OpenMG secure module’ error and I was prevented from transferring. It made a bit of a mess of my player (I wasn’t sure what transferred and what didn’t) and I decided to initialize the HD-5 and transfer my tracks in one go to see if that cleared it up. The next transfer resulted in only about 40 tracks actually being transferred (instead of the 2000 or so in my library) and I thought I should re-install Sonicstage 4.3, which I did. This made no difference at all and I then thought there may be a problem with my XP install. I re-installed XP as well as a new install of 4.3 and thought that the problem would be solved. But now it won’t transfer any of my tracks to my HD-5. So, I’ve now got a blank player. I currently have no other software running on XP after my new install apart from Zoneelarm retail.Any help would be appreciated. I’ve read through the FAQ’s and will check the registry and re-install Sonicstage again using your guide when I get home tonight. PhilF
Ok, an update. I've gone through the FAQ and uninstalled and installed Sonicstage as directed. I also cleaned up the registry as advised and even went as far as going through another fresh install of XP. But, the problem still occurs i.e. error - can't transfer tracks. But what is very odd it that it did manage to transfer some of my LP's and all of them were the last few alphabetically in my library i.e. they all began with the letters 't' and above.Any ideas? Thanks
PhilF
Ok, after much trial and error I seem to have identified the problem and have found a (not perfect) workable solution. In the past, I have often transferrred a few gigs of tracks in one go from My Library to my HD-5 but it appears that Sonicstage 4.3 (or my PC) will not allow me to do this anymore. I worked out that I get the error message when I try to transfer more than around 500 meg of music at a time to my HD-5 and it is this that is the problem. The solution was to transfer less tracks at a time. I am currently transferring one LP at a time as when I get to around 500 meg's worth of data, I still get the error message. At this point, I have no option but to turn my computer off and then on again and carry on until I reach around 500 meg's worth again. It is a very slow and tedious way to do things but at least it works.I'm no expert at computers and therefore do not know why it is doing this and bearing in mind I had no problems until Sonicstage 4.3, then I can only presume that it is this which is causing the problems. But for other people who are gettting the 'Error - can't transfer tracks' problem, it may be worth trying my method and seeing if that works. And if anybody has any idea why I had this problem in the fiorst place, then it would be interesting to know.Good luck. Ishiyoshi
This is a peculiar problem indeed. Does anyone else have this file transfer issue? If so, please do report accordingly.
atown8605
yES I have experienced this. I wasnt sure what size the file issue was . I guessed it was 1 gig folders causing the problem.500 mb sounds more accurate. My ss library is over 400 gb. There is no way I can import the whole thing without errors. I used to be able to transfer 18.6 gig in one go with no problem at all but now it is only around 500 mb. It's workable but certainly not ideal.
