tim25
Hi everybodynewbie in trouble.... LOL... hope you experts out there won't get turned off by the many similar pleas for help everyday... Recently upgraded my rig and reinstalled all my software, including SonicStage... previous software used was SonicStage 2.3. A trustworthy software IMHO which has provided reliable transfers between my walkman and PC for 3 years... No errors nothing... Alas, after the unintentional upgrade (do I have a choice?)... I'm stuck with this problem for 2 days... Now confused, disappointed, exasperated and balding (tearing my hair due to the stress)... Here's what i did:- SonicStage prompted me to reformat my walkman because of the incompatibility between the 2 software versions- Did a backup from Windows Explorer (copied and pasted the folder OMGAUDIO) - Deleted all my tracks from the player - Tried importing the backup tracks to my Library- Realized that I can neither play the songs from my Library, nor transfer the songs to my walkman... (Thought the files are the same?!?) *Please take a look at the printscreen for reference- Copied the entire backup folder back to the walkman folder via Windows Explorer- Experienced the following error in my walkman screen, "Mismatch in System Files". Cannot locate the files in my Walkman.- What's ironic is that SonicStage recognized the files in my walkman and can play them via the program...- Also tried transferring the files from my Walkman to my Library via SonicStage but failed. *please refer to the 2nd printscreen I've attached to see the error. So what should I do next? Any guidance and advice is truly appreciated.... Sorry for the trouble... PLZ HELP.... PLZ RegardsTim
pata2001
First of all, you cannot just copy/paste your library to back it up. You have to use the backup tool within sonicstage. You cannot transfer back any music from Sony Network walkmen back to your PC either. The problem you're having is because your old library form SS2.3 is DRMed, so it won't be usable anymore, even if you re-install 2.3. Welcome to the world of Sony. Unfortunately at this point, you have to re-rip you music again (make sure you uncheck the copy protection checkbox if you rip to Atrac). Why can't the world of sony walkmans be made simpler........ It sucks to rip all the tracks again...... sigh.... Should've settled for an ipod back then

Either the files were accidentally deleted, or this was done in the setting in SonicStage. Never say yes when SonicStage prompts to delete any files, unless you really want to do this. SonicStage does not store files, it only manages the files. For Verifications:Connect the WalkmanClick on 'transfere mode and setting' the toolbox iconClick on 'Advanced...'Under 'Convert files while transferring' ensure that nothing is selected.Simpler never gives you choice. pata2001
Simpler never gives you choice.Simpler is about usability and user friendliness, because most people want to actually use the product they just bought.
dura_
You cannot transfer back any music from Sony Network walkmen back to your PC either.Yes, you can. I did that last month: connect the walkman to a new laptop with SS installed, import files, point to the walkman et voila, a perfect usuable library copy. But this probably will not work if the files are DRM-ed. OTH, the library was made in SS 2.x (when, if I understand correctly everything was DRM), upgraded everytime to 4.3 and somewhere along the way DRM was lost.
