MiKE_.
Ok, recently I have gone in desperate search for a new NWA3000 HD5 player and now I can transfer the files to the player fine using either CONNECT Player or SonicStage 4.3 CP.The only problem is I cannot transfer using SonicStage unless I leave the format of the tracks imported into my library as their original format..As CONNECT Player is slow and unreliable, I would really like to be able to use SonicStage, I am trying to transfer the tracks as 66kb ATRAC3 files as this greatly prolongs the battery life of the player, increases speed and takes up about 3/4 less space on the players hard disk.. (without losing playback quality). When I transfer files as this format (66kb ATRAC3) the player seems to close without any warning when its about a 3rd of the way through transferring.. which basically means I have to initialize the disk on the player and start again..(I can transfer as the original format with no problem whatsoever). This has happened many times now, I have tried so many different things.. even freshly reformatting my laptop and reinstalling SonicStage.I am attempting to transfer 3500 mp3 files as ATRAC3 66kb files.Laptop specs are as follows:HP Pavilion dv6152EUAMD Turion 64mobile, 1.6ghz x 21022MB RamNVIDIA GeForce 7200 GO.Windows XP Media CenterI would really like to take advantage of what I see to be a great Mp3 Player, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks alot.MiKE. Shinji Ikeda
MiKE, the only suggestion is to transfer your files in segments. I do not know how long it would take to transfer 3500 mp3, since each has to be converted before being transfered. SonicStage, converts each MP3 individually, then transfers it. I would suspect that the problem is with the conversion. How many songs are transfered before the problem occurs?
totesz
Additionally I would recommend to convert files to Atrac3+. 64kbps is even smaller, if you are for space, and the quality is better in my opinion. Also SonicStage 4.3 doesn't really support 66kbps ATRAC3 conversion anymore. (as far as I know)
pata2001
Ok, recently I have gone in desperate search for a new NWA3000 HD5 player and now I can transfer the files to the player fine using either CONNECT Player or SonicStage 4.3 CP.I am attempting to transfer 3500 mp3 files as ATRAC3 66kb files.Huh? NWA3000 HD5? Which one do you have? In any case, both models support MP3 natively, so I don't see the point in transcoding to Atrac. The battery life gained is not worth the severe decrease in sound quality.
Shinji Ikeda
I transcode all my podcast to ATRAC 48kps. Hearing someone talk is not work MP3 at 128kps. Unfortunately, SonicStage only transcode to ATRAC. Also, depending on your settings SonicStage saves the converted files on your harddrive. Depending on the device SonicStage supports various ATRAC formats. It would be good if Sony was consistent across their products, this would greatly reduce confusion. MiKE.
MiKE, the only suggestion is to transfer your files in segments. I would suspect that the problem is with the conversion. How many songs are transfered before the problem occurs? The problem occurs after about a third of the songs have been transferred, i'm not sure whether windows is executing the program or what..Originally (before I purchased a new NW-A3000) I had my entire CD collection + a friends on my device!I wouldn't say that ATRAC3 66KB/S conversion decreases sound quality at all.. I am transferring in segments now.. it's just very annoying I want to be able to leave the software converting without having to sit inside spending ages transferring them.Like I said before, I want to take advantage of what I see to be a great Mp3 player! If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to post them Thanks for your feedback anyway!MiKE.
