Question

Hi guys, newbie here with a Vaio pocket. Previously was a relatively active member in audio t-board... but I think it'd be more appropriate posting questions on my new toy as its not MD no more! :P

Some questions which I've posted on the other forum are:

i) I usually listen to music by albums... so, I select my album from the jacket list and play. But when the album finishes, it stops. How can I make it so that it would move on to the next album in the list like my other HiMD units?

ii) Is there a way of arranging the list of albums in the jacket view to sort by album title rather than date of transfer?

iii) Know this has been debated a lot of times... but is it better to let the battery drop to about 50% before docking on the cradle, or should I just dock it everyday regardless of how much use its seen... this of course is referring to battery life.

iv) I've noticed in some pictures in reviews that the album art extends all the way to the RHS of the screen. Does this mean that this is dependent on the resolution of the jacket picture?

v) How do I use the lyrics function?

Appreciate if anyone can provide some leads to this. Thanks! :)

Not sure about i) - ii), but, as memory serves:

iii) it's (probably) best to keep the unit on the cradle when not in use as Li-Ion batteries prefer to be kept on full charge (and the battery drains when not in use anayway)

iv) you should use square dimensions for your album art (re-sizing in ms-paint etc if necessary). Non square dimensions (eg. 250 x 230 pixels) will get truncated. About 300 x 300 pix is optimal in trems of resolution, although I think the art gets resized when transferred to the unit.

v) Use track view - right click - properties - Lyric/Liner notes in sonicstage and copy/paste the lyrics as text (or an image file) into the box provided. Put carriage returns to split longer lines (>30 chars) to avoid having to horizontally scroll too much. Then transfer the songs back to the Vaio. You probably want to delete the non-text versions on the vaio first. The view lyrics function is on the left side of the right menu on th unit.

Hope that helps.

My experiences as follows:

i: Yes, while playing, press SHUF 6 times - you will see the disc to disc with bent arrow icon below track time.

ii: no

iii: I always import songs without considering the battery's issue - I believe the designed circuit will handle this manner, and so far my battery is working properly. I do discover there are three icons for charging, no charging with socket like icon, and can't be charged with X over charging icon.

iv: It is a fixed location. Picture will be reduced to that location without editing. Yes, higher resolution will exhibit clearer picture.

v: Fill in the lyrics thru SonicStage, and transfer the song to the player. While playing the song, there is an option (soft menu - next to Stop button) for displaying the lyrics. To display the hidden text at the RHS, move the cursor to that row.
