Question

Hello there,

I wanna know how much loud are Sony's player of this family... actually I use a Packard Bell AudioDream that is rated at 13 mw x channel and I have fear that the new player (NW-E013) would me quieter. Actually I set the loudness of the MP3's at 97 db to achieve a respectable loudness at ->max<- volume and I'm worried that I must go over 100 with the new player (distortion included?).

Are there any limiter for the volume?

How much do you set sound pressure of your MP3's?

Thanks

I still have an AudioDream, it was my first player. I don't have an NW-E013, but I do have the NW-S706 and 808 and they're rated only 5mw x channel, but I just tried the Audiodream again, and can promise you they play as loud, if not louder than the Audiodream. The Audiodream only has the volume bar rather than a number - but I set it to 80% and then put the Sonys on 80%, volume 24 - and they play as loud but with better definition. I still don't understand why a weedy 5 mw x channel should produce such a powerful sound, but it does. I'm assuming the NW-E013 would also play loud but you'd need someone else to confirm that for you.

I'm very happy to know that the player has a better definition, that is very important to me.. and I'm relieved too that volume is comparable with the two models.

Which is for you the ideal 'sound pressure' for such a player? Which is the best 'loud but non distorted' combination? I actually have 97 db for the AudioDream, but 2 more decibels perhaps would be better.

Remember I haven't used the E013 - I'm only comparing the same AudioDream that you have with the 706 and 808, and because the mw x channel is the same on the 3 Sonys, I'm assuming you would get a louder volume. Seeing as it's a new model, I would have to think the volume's on a par with the 706 and 808. I can't listen to anything past about 20/30 but it also depends on what headphones you're using. I'm 100% sure you'll find it's a huge improvement over the AudioDream, (which is still not a bad player considering how old it is) - but you'll get a lot more clarity from the Sony

Some time ago I heard that NW-E01x series are different from NW-E00x series and that they do not have any volume limiter (for the european countries), hope that it's true. :P

Thanks for your replies.
