Question

HI, I hope someone can assist...

Most of my videos on my PC are in avi or DivX format, and I thought that the software for the NW A805 would convert the vids but when I click on the 'add to list' and try drag any avi or DivX file onto the list it says 'file format not supported'!!! I know the NW A805 plays MP4 and H.264 but I thought the software (image converter) would convert the avi and/or DivX files into the required format!!!??? why is it called image converter if it doesnt convert?? any advice, maybe I'm doing something wrong or something....

Hi Jostian, welcome to AtracLife.

I haven't had great experiences with Image Converter, however I was able to convert an xvid video (some tv show), however there was no sound when I played it. Do you have any codec packs installed? If you do, you should probably get rid of them and just install the ones you need to use (DivX, XviD, etc.). I'm not really sure why it says it wouldn't support it, when you can play the file on your computer... Maybe you need to update your codecs?

Another thing you could do is install/download any other software that converts to .mp4 that an ipod video supports. A decent one that I use is Xilisoft Video Converter. Good luck.

I second ricebOi87's advice. This is almost certainly a problem with your codecs. Generally you should stay away from codec packs and just install the ones you need. Almost certainly xvid.

When I first installed imageconverter my vids played lightningfast like 3 times too fast. I reinstalled my Xvid codec and haven't had any problems since.
