Sony NW-A806 or A808 - Transferring songs back to the PC

Question

I have recently brought a second hand a806 and it has a nice little library of songs which im guessing will be deleted the first time I load SS on to my PC and connect the player (like in Itunes?). As I would like to keep these songs does anyone know of anyway to upload these onto my PC (using GYM or similar programme etc)?

Also, anyone no of any alternative yet for SS?

Thanks! :D

There's no reason for your songs to be automatically deleted from the player unless you specifically delete them. However, you won't be able to transfer them back to your SS library since they don't exist there in the first place. If you start to run out of space for your own music, then you'd have to start deleting, as there is absolutely no way to transfer them back to the library unless you have the original discs to rip from, or unless they're on your hard drive to begin with. I don't know any other way to transfer songs with other software, but if you do a search for Sonicstage alternatives, you might find something useful there.

Hope that helps :)

here is an interesting tidbit, I hooked up my a1000 to my pc, and then browsed the device using windows explorer

then went into the music directory, grabbed a random song, copied and pasted it to my desktop. mind you the file ending was .oma

then I went on to send it to a person who doesn't have sonicstage or connect player and the file played on their pc :o although he didn't transfer it to any device, but it did play on his pc. :P

I've had an NWA806 for 3 weeks or so now which I use with a couple of lap tops both with sonic stage installed. I found out last week by accident that I seem to be able to transfer tracks from the player transfered with one laptop onto the other by simply using the transfer back button in sonic stage. So I can copy tracks onto a pc which they were not transfered from!!. I can only do this for tracks ripped from a CD and not tracks from Connect but I still thought you should not be able to do this?
