First Make sure you do NOT have any Network server devices assigned to drive letters G: or F:

Then with your device connected to the USB port, go to MY Computer: Right click on My Computer and select MANAGE. Select DISK MANAGEMENT.

If you see your device listed as a removable device [mine shows up as Removable 1.90 GB FAT.]

and it has NO drive letter assigned, then right click on it and select CHANGE DRIVE LETTERS and PATHS.

In the Drive letter and paths window, assign your device a drive letter like G: by selecting ADD... Choose a drive letter adn click OK.

It should now show up in My Computer.

Thanks for your help.

To: theFanboy,

everything you recommended works. The player still has all of its functions, I've formatted and pressed the Reset

button on the back many times. The unit is not recognized by any PC I connect it to.

Thanks for your suggestion.

To: golden ears,

I followed your instructions, but device still does not show up.

That's why I think we need some sort of Hard reset procedure.

Thanks!

The same thing happened to me. This is what I did

Press and hold home to go to the home screen, and scroll over to the tool box.

Scroll down to advanced

Go to initialize

Go to format, and hit okay

Do the same thing again, but go to reset all settings this time, and go to okay

Then, go into advanced, into usb power, and change it to 100mA.

After I plugged it in again, I could successfully upgrade the firmware to 2.00

I apologise if the menu options arent exactly correct, I dont have it near me to re-check the names.
