Currently the player inserts a silent break between each track on DJ mix CD's...This is NOT the way the player should handle music like this...The mixes between each track should be seamless...Is there a way to rectify this problem???...No doubt, this can only be solved by a firmware update from Sony!!!

JesseB - the A818 doesn't play gapless. This facility was sacrificed since the newer models are now SonicStage/Atrac free and it was only Atrac files that could play with no gaps.

I have the A808 and was initially peeved when the newer drag and drop models were released, but once I realised that gapless was no longer possible - I was glad I didn't buy one. Maybe it's possible (as you suggest) that Sony might release a firmware update to rectify this, but if they don't - maybe you should consider getting the A8xx series instead? But then of course, you'd be back to SonicStage again, and judging from the rave reviews about the A818, I imagine a lot of people would willingly sacrifice gapless than be lumbered with SS. . .

Yep, if you want gapless go for the original NW-A8xx range. Gapless playback is supported by ATRAC, and AAC I believe?
