Question

I got a letter saying that Sony was going to open their devices to MP3 Playback and they are shutting down the Connect Store March 8th.

Does this mean Sony will issue a new version of Sonic Stage and Firmware updates for the NW-E005F and other product lines?

I sure hope so becasue sonic Stage is a terrible dissapointment as an inteface.

I wouldn't hold your breath. No more ATRAC and no more Sonic Stage. Spoke to a guy in my local Sony Centre today who told me that they were getting no more stocks of the NW-A8xx(ATRAC version) in, and from now on it would only be the NWZ-A81x(WMP 11 version) that would be stocked from now on.

Hi Markey, long time!! I'm also confused about this piece of info. So does this mean that with the old NW Axx seriers that you cant use WMP 11 with it? We are confined to Sonic Satge? Or will thre be some firmware upgrade to enable us old timers to start using WMP 11 with our devices?

It so confusing!!!!!!

No idea about new software, but Japan is getting another update for SonicStage CP, the version 4.4. The changes are only relevant to the S610/710 and A910, but that's still a new version. :P

As for firmware updates, if you notice Sony's habit, you don't see them very often after the product has been discontinued.
