CANNOT PLAY - NW-A608 needs help

Hi there

I wanted to fill my old NW-A608 with music for my wife because I got a new player. I formatted the NW-A608 and used to MP3FM to drag and drop MP3s onto the player. No matter what I do though the player does not play any of those files. I always get the error "CANNOT PLAY".

Anybody has an idea what I can do???

unfortunately ,you will have to use SonicStage CP or Connect player to transfer files .

Well it worked for me many months ago. But I have not used my player since. And when I try to do it again now it only gives me that error. The MP3FM DID WORK hoever. So its not that it would be impossible.

ATM I'm moving stuff over with ml_sony and winamp, which is just a big plaque as SS

I think your big mistake was to format the player through Windows. If you had just deleted all the files through Sonicstage maybe the necessary firmware files would still be on the player and you could have continued to use that MP3 program to drag and drop. Live and learn eh?

None, I did format it by the function the player offers NOT windows. And I never used SonicStage. Read! Live and learn eh?

Again, your mistake was not to use Sonicstage. Sonicstage and its associated hardware (i.e., your player) are inseparable. By not using Sonicstage to format the player the result is a dead player.

Actually I wouldn't put all the blame on you. Half of it must go to Sony for not properly making the procedure clear.

No, the player IS NOT dead!!! I just can't use MP3FM anymore. I used ml_sony and winamp and it works. I just tried SonicStage (which is not half as bad as everybody makes it - no problems for me here at all) and this also works. Just MP3FM imported songs don't play anymore but they did!

Why not just re-install MP3FM and see if that works

i would try to format it in wondows too then install mp3fm again. have you the latest fw (2.01)?
