Bought my Sony MZ-N707 and generally very pleased with usability and sound quality. Simple Burner much easier than full OpenMG Jukebox - but using either I have not been able to access the (installed) Gracenote CDDB server to download album and tract details. I assume something is not set up correctly but cannot get anyone/anywhere to tell me what to do. Using XP Home on a Dell laptop with internet access via Freeserve in the UK.

Help!

Have you tried patching Simple Burner? There is a patch avalible for simpleburner and if i am not mistaging, it includes a fix for some CDDB problem.

I am not sure where to get it tho, maybe someone else could help.

Anyone know what I´m talking about?

Hi am very interested in this question. I have MZN1, absolutely LOVE it! Works a treat, and am transferring my Cd and cassette and vinyl collections to MD. But I cannot access CDDB either. I use win98, by the way. Everything else works fine. I can go thru the registration process for CDDB then get "unable to contact server" then "check your network". I have no network! I have a ZoneAlarm firewall but disabled it before attempting to contact CDDB, no difference still cannot do it. Any ideas much appreciated. I have visited Gracenote website but cannot seem to get same info from that source, no facility to log on... nutkin

laugh.gifHere I am again! Well, cannot get CDDB thru either Simple Burner or OpenMG BUT I have found a way to get track info - have downloaded free RealOne Player which works like a charm. Only prob is you have to work in real time rather than high speed, but you can play your CD, save tracks with info to a Library, then download the library to your MD. Bit more tedious but works well. You might like to try it, mdvirgin! cheers Nutkin ohmy.gif

This CDDB issue is difficult to troubleshoot. I have OpenMG Jukebox 2.2 running on Win 2K on my laptop and on my Win XP Home desktop and have not trouble accessing CDDB in either case. I either hook up with a modem from the laptop or I connect using a DSL line at home through a router. So for what it is worth, it is possible. Have you asked you ISP for help? It might be an ISP issue.

I eventually got it, in OpenMg I went to tools - options - cddb2. and where proxyserver was ticked, i unticked it. completed my registration and my listing for "chilloutsession3 came up" beautiful
