Guest Anonymous
Hi folks I´m looking for a general purpose microphone (does it exist?). I´ve seen this Sony model, ECM-DS70P. What do you think about it? For me, it looks cool: stereo, small, and no wire. But what about the technical part? Anybody has it, and can share its experience? Thanks in advance
Guest Anonymous
I recently went through your dilemma and after MUCHO research, I bought the SP-OTTER-1 from Sound Professionals. The purpose of the mic is two-fold. Aside from being an incredible microphone, it is also a crush-proof case to store your portable MD recorder in! The mics are built into both sides of the outside of the box. The box is roughly 6" long so this gives you a stereo image very similar to that of human hearing (the distance from ear to ear). Sound Professionals also makes lots of options available on these boxes and will customize yours to suit your needs. I chose to include the optional battery module and bass frequency roll of switches. Because most of the live music that I'm recording is loud enough, I can get away without having the Mic Pre that they offer and still utilize my Line Input on the MD, which sounds better than the Mic input. What did all of this killer gear cost? About $130 bucks. Not super cheap, but when you weigh the quality of the recording and the fact that this puppy provides protection for your recorder, it's a no-brainer. Hope this helps!! Good luck! EVHShawn
Whatever you do, don't buy a Sony mic, Sony is not known for its mic quality. Check out the Sound Pros Shure brand mics. Shure has been used by studios and pro musicians for a long time, the company wouldn't still be around if it sucked; same with Audio-Technica.
