trackmarks when digital recording using winamp

i am using winamp to play my wav playlist and digitally recording using the sony digital pclink... i am using winamp instead of windows media player because media player seems to always insert gaps between the tracks (tracks broken up as seperate wav's in my playlist), this is a live recording so i do not want there to be gaps (but i do want trackmarks), the tracks have been broken up into seperate wav files and played in winamp as a playlist (winamp does not insert the gaps between tracks during playback that win media player does)....

everything records fine, but my minidisc (while recording in sync mode) does NOT pickup the tracks from winamp, however when i record the exact same way using win media player it DOES pickup the tracks - this is presumably because the minidisc detects the silence with win media player and inserts a track mark where the silence is....

my question is this: is there anyway for my minidisc to recognize the track marks using winamp (and no gaps between tracks), or is the only way this thing can automatically copy my track marks is if there are gaps between the tracks for it to detect as silence??? thanks!

The track marks are actually made by the Xitel DG-2 that your Sony MD recorder came with (the digital PC link box), NOT the software application.

I'm not sure about the compatiblity of the DG-2 with WinAmp but I know it will make track marks with WMP 8 or BELOW or Music Match Jukebox.

If it doesn't work with WinAmp, see what Xitel has to say about using thier DG-2 at www.xitel.com. It may be that the DG-2 doesn't support WinAmp (I'm not sure about this I've never used one).

So you are limited in that way to programs that the DG-2 will make track marks with if you want the track marks as you describe. Also do NOT upgrade to WMP 9 as you will lose the ability for track marks to be made again as the DG-2's discrete mode doesn't work with WMP 9 either.

I noticed the same problem when I upgraded to using winamp3. It wouldn't put any trackmarks in. I thought this was because I had crossfade option turned on, but even turned off it still would not insert the track marks. So, since I still had the old winamp2, I opened that and recording on that works perfectly fine, tracks inserted in all the proper places, automatically.

Also...do you have the synch recording on? I forget exactly what it does, but I'm pretty sure that makes sure all the track marks follow the marks on what you're recording. Dig? ^^

I have another issue with trackmarks. When I play the music from my PC (WinAmp or WMP8) I have the problem that I get per track 2 trackmarks. The firstone is a split second and the second one is for the total track, w/o the split second. I use a Xitel MDPORT-DG1.

Who can help?

Peter
