Sony MZ-N10 vs. iPod PC 10GB DILEMMA!

I'm in a really great dilemma right now. I got a quite old Sharp MD and was really looking forward buying the new Sony MZ-N1 or then even the new MZ-N10. But then I read all the complains about uploading MP3's and all that stuff. But that's the main thing I want to do - get my MP3's on a portable audio and hear them with the extraordinary MDR-EX70LP...

So what should I do now? MZ-N10 is about $400 - and so's the iPod. But Uploading Mp3's on the iPod seems to be some kind of shit, too - because of the software again (musicmatch there)...

Would you please help me out?! Any internet stores with great prizes for MD or iPOD? :?: :!:

its quite possible that youll be better off with the mp3 player if all you do is put mp3s on some kind of media. I would go into size, but as we all know, the ipod is very small and quite a nice mp3 player. Downside of md right now is the lack of upload on net MD. This is available on that mp3 player.

well, if you do decide to get a MD player, make sure its net md (even thought net md sucks right now, youll need it of you have mp3s).

I also did not find it easy deciding between the MZ-N10 and the IPOD 10GB PC, but in the end bought an MZ-N10 for these reasons:

1. It's smaller than the IPOD 10GB.

2. It's cheaper than the IPOD 10GB.

3. It can record from any compatible device (stereo/mike/computer etc.)

4. It can play back in the car (using adapter).

5. It can hold more music (using multiple Mini discs).

6. It has a back lit remote.

7. It is more resistant to shock (GProt).

8. It has a longer battery life.

9. ATRAC TYPE R or S is better than MP3 128kbps-320kbps.

10. Can download (PC to MD) and upload (from MD to PC).

11. I assume it will last longer than a HDD based player.

If you still want to buy an IPOD try this software for PC:

I would read up on the 10gig Ipod... I have heard from several sources that the hard drive in those is un-reliable at best. The drive is a miniature HD so its not really solid state and contains way too many moving parts. Anything below the 20 gig model could have issues and cause you to lose your whole collection if it crashes! I SWORE by MP3 players until I got my MD, I would NEVER go back to a MP3 player now. The battery life is amazing, the media is DIRT CHEAP, and the quality is UN-SURPASSED by anything. I am actually considering re-ripping my entire music collection (3974 tracks) from CD to ATRAC, because after hearing the difference it would be worth all the time to do so.

Well guys - just wanted to tell you that I made my decision - against Sony (NetMD) .

I really liked my old MD, but there are just too many disadvantages - and Sony sucks of course...

I'm really looking forward to my 10gig iPod. It stores all of my MP3's, got great design, it's special, easy access, great community (! --> www.ipolounge.com), you don't have to buy quite expensive MD's (compared to really cheap cd-r's for example), extra functions (clock, contacts, schedule - still more coming through firmware updates), and much much more...

I'm quite sure I won't regret it - maybe you should switch, too  ...

Yeah, you can even record off a mates CD, record your homework, lectures, record away from your computer, play for weeks at a time without a charge, not have to deal with computers AT ALL... wait a sec, maybe not. Silly me tongue.gif

MD IS THE ANSWER! Had the music industry paid attention 10 years ago they would have nothing to cry about today about how they are getting ripped off. They wanted to save a few cents and continue to produce CD's. BIG MISTAKE, and now they are blaming the consumers... sorry... I don't buy it. My opinion is that MD should replace CD as the media of choice for the music industry. I have delt with several MP3 players and they are all the same... THEY SUCK... I will NEVER turn on MD simply because it is the answer.
