Another, which MD should I buy?

I am new to MD. I am looking for something to record concerts, as well as research interviews. I will need to upload the files to a pc and change them into .wav and .mp3 files (the research interviews). My portable cd player just crapped out on me so I am thinking of also getting a MD player for general audio listening pleasure.

Can anyone please tell me what I will need in order to transfer the files onto my computer, as well as what models I should keep my eye on?

Thanks

Right now the most common over-the-counter MD unit I can think of is the Sony MZ-N707. It has a microphone input and enough bells and whistles to keep you happy. My current baby is Sony's MZ-R900; it's a well-made, feature packed machine that only lacks the USB connectivity of the Net MDs.

There's no way to 'upload' from an MD; you'd have to connect the line out on your MD to the line in on your computer's sound card and record the old fashioned way.

Other than that little snag, you really can't beat MD for versatility. Can anybody else recommend a couple models?

Try the Sharp MD-MT190.

Sharp are the brand to choose for live recordings, and for better sound, although the latter is subjective, of course. biggrin.gif

And they are far easier to use.

If you have the cash, get the MT770 (MT888) or DR7 (DR470). I doubt you'll miss the extra cash once you see these babies.
