New to MD, and see Optical recording Via PS2.....??????????

Can someone please tell me what the guy in this link means....

He says optical via PS2....

I have a ps2, just don't understand what he means....

I would like to have a Minidisc player, that I can record all my favourite songs onto disc, from their CD's.

I thought the best way for me to do it, was to convert the albums on the PC and then download them onto my minidisc via USB...

But what is this PS2 Optical please...

I think he means the optical output on the back of the PS2. It's the square-ish socket. Connect your MD up to this, stick a CD in the PS2 and you can record from the PS2 like a from any hi-fi with an optical output.

I haven't got a clue...

I have been thinking about getting a net MD, coz of the ease of transferring music. No perhaps I could use my ps2 and record with perhaps one of the non NetMD Sharp Auvis....

Would the quality this way be the same as transferring Mp3's onto an MD via PC..

better quality, but has to be done second by second rather than really fast like with netmd but this hads nevber bothered me
