Microphone-in or line-in

I'm thinking of buying a Sharp minidisc and one of the uses would be to record sound with a microphone.

Found a cheap Sharp (MT270) but that model does not have an mike-in (only analog and optical).

The question is: whats the difference of a mike-in and line-in? Can I use a microphone with line-in?

Thanks.

Robert.

The mic in has an higher sensivity. Also, U can't plug a mic into line in and make it work, since it needs a socket with "plug in power" (as the mic input). So u'd be better off with a mic in md if possible...
