Hi!

I've just got my n10 today and I notice that the bass is very very weak. I hardly can hear the bass. I've tried strengthen the bass through the EQ but it doesn't help much. Is there anybody who is experiencing it or have any solution to it?

Please reply. I'm rather disappointed with this unit.

Thanks.

The problem is not the unit itself... Have u already looked at ur headphones? They're OPEN! Get ahold of some MDR-EX71SL since they're closed... U'll see what's bass . And I can assure u, I had the stock ones on my MZ-R700, and when I changed to these, man, bass was really bass. If u buy one of these, they're really like subwoofers, and u won't listen the "outside" anymore!

Yanno, I actually just got on to make a similar post.

Using D66's, I compared the bass of an R700 to an N10 and found that the R700 has significantly stronger bass. While the N10 has clearer, less boomy bass than the R700, it is simply lacking in force.

Does anyone have any custom settings for the N10 that will really put some power into the bass without making the music sound like crap?

Try increasing the bass on the EQ before you translate the file to your MD. You can also increase the volume to intensify the bass signal.

I've looked into the problem some and have come up with a preset that sounds pretty good on my D66's. With 1 being the lowest the bar can go and 6 being the highest, the preset, from left to right, is 6 5 3 3 3 5

It sounds pretty good to me; obviously, it's gonna weaken the midrange a little, so some stuff won't sound good with it. It's best for audio like heavy metal and funk where the bass line dominates the sound. It sounds great on some of my headphones (like D66's) and terrible on others (CRAP on my EX71's, there's way too much bass,) so it is s hit-or-miss. Let me know if you guys can come up with any presets that you like better for increasing bass.
