Guest Anonymous
OK so NetMD is basically duff! i have consigned myself to obtaining the Midiman CO2 which alows me to take the DIGITAL coax RCA S/PDIF input and output of my soundcard and plug them into this box to provide me with an OPTICAL S/PDIF input and output pathways to my PC. Basically all of the recordings from CD's (i don't have a hi-fi [student accomodation is small] i use an amp and speakers plugged into my pc) and wav files that i will make will be made optically. And recording lectures will be transferred from Digital source (*minidisc converted*) ---analog---> soundcard (*ADC converted)---> digital wav file. this digital -> analog -> digital seem POINTLESSLY inefficient and just plain unnecessary......... My question is/are: 1. is there a MD with optical output as well as input (even if it hasn't got netMD) ? 2. is it really ABSOLUTELY impossible to transfer music digitally from MD ---(*usb*)---> PC , using any (even non sony) unit, or do you think that it will be arranged (cracked) that this will be possible. KJ_Palmer
Only full size MD decks currently have optical outputs, they cost about the same as decent portable recorders. See, eg. http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDS-JE780.html You could also digitally transfer to PC using the ouput out of one of these. maia
Or get the MDS-JE480 and add the optical out (the mainboard only has the space for it). Ask a local repairing shop to make it for u (that's what I did - > look in the sig)
Guest Anonymous
maia, could you explain (or link to a post, if you have already explained) in more detail.. sounds interesting (i take it you have invalidated your warenty)
maia
yeah, that voids the warranty. If don't fell well about this, don't do it. Check it out here: http://www.mtsu.edu/~hhw2b/470mod.html PS: That's for the MDS-JE470, but the MDS-JE480 has the same layout if u wanna know that... Guest Anonymous
Thanks maia, the JE-480 is a very viable option, at 100 pounds. And it looks good too!
maia
ok, np. I'd suggest sumone to do that for u, in exchange of some money. Ask a local HI-FI, TV repairer... Ohh, btw, good luck
