Hi, I have a sony mz-r2 and it works fine so far, but since a while I have problems with the optical connention from the PC to the MD: when I try to record something, I get track-matks every 1-2 minutes. the recordings are distorted sometimes and from time to time I get a sync error.

I tried with a sharp md and all worked fine, so it's the sony, but what can that be? I cleant the cable and optical input already.

Any idea?

I don't know whether it's the same for the MZ-R2, but the MZ-1 is very picky with the types of optical inputs it receives. In fact it won't accept anything else but the output from a CD player or another MD machin (44.1KHz).

If you have any other MD or CD equipment with an optical output, try that to see if the same thing happens.

Hope this helps?

Yes, I tried recordimg from another CD player, but that was even worse. The sony was putting every second a trackmark, so that with a 4 minute somg, I got more than 200 tracks of it.

And, yes it's allways 44,1 Khz sampling frequency.
