mAjEsTiC
what kind of software are you after exactly??? this unit is the MZ-R700 am i correct??? this is a recorder but does not have NetMD functionality so it did not come with any software (for NetMD transfers) if this is the type of software that you were implying... mAjEsTiC
well if you just want to record music onto the unit through analogue or digital connections from the PC then u can just basically use any program out there that plays music...but the R700 unit does not come with any software (to my knowledge)... Bazirker
A Sony MZ-R700 has no computer downloading abilities at all, and thus has no software. The only way to make recordings with an R700 is either via a mic, a line-out, or an optical-out.
Christopher
Unless your MZ-R700 came with an Xitel digital PClink...did it?
Bazirker
Even then, no software is required, you just plug it in and it installs drivers automatically. All the Xitel plug does is make an optical output from any computer with a usb slot.

Sometimes you have to set it as the output.

mAjEsTiC
yup just connect the MD to the computer (from LINE IN or OPTIC IN) or wotever you want it to record from and then just press/slide the record button/swith...
batphink
I almost forgot. There's a company called Mironics (http://www.mironics.com/default.asp) that has a very powerful hardware/software package that works with most portable Sony MD recorders. Also, Radio Shack has some good, affordable audio cables.
q595q
Sorry this is kinda off topic but I have a Sony MZ-R700 that came with the USB PC Link, I got the thing connected right but when I go to record something the sound is distorted. I checked the wave levels on my comp and the levels of the media player (winamp, windows media player) but nothing seems to be helping. Can anybody help? Thanks alot! -alex
