Guest Anonymous
Hi all, I've got an MZ-R50 that I've had since new, used mainly as in car player, I've never really monitored the 'MD scene' since I've bought it but having a look round the site it appears it's a fairly well thought of player. - 2 questions :-) - apparently there are now long play minidiscs' and discs longer than 75 minutes? Are these compatible with it?, other than NetMD which I realise it doesn't do have there been any other developments that its not compatible with? and finally I've bust the tie-clip on the back of the remote recently (still works just annoy's me cos its bust) Are replacements (complete remotes I mean) still available? (I'm in the UK) Thanks all
mAjEsTiC
hey there, well there are actually new units that can record in LP2/LP4 mode (i.e. 2x and 4x the amount stated on the MD...e.g. a 74min MD recorded in LP2 can hold up to 2.5hrs and in LP4 will hold up to nearly 5hrs worth though the quality declines as u compress more...) ur R50 should be compatilble with normal SP mode...LP2/LP4 modes it can't read (well it can but it shows up as a blank track)...NetMD is just a technology allowing you fast transfer of music files from your PC -> MD (though a little flawed it is better than recording in real-time)... apparently there are now long play minidiscs' and discs longer than 75 minutes? Are these compatible with it?the discs come in 74min and 80min and your R50 should be compatible with both... other than NetMD which I realise it doesn't do have there been any other developments that its not compatible with? and finally I've bust the tie-clip on the back of the remote recently (still works just annoy's me cos its bust) Are replacements (complete remotes I mean) still available? (I'm in the UK)simple answer is to both these quetions is no...well there aren't any remotes for the R50 that are readily sold by sony now but there are newer remotes which should work on it...u could give it a try i'm not entirely sure myself coz i sold off my R50 units ages ago and i can't test it out...
