Guest Anonymous
Hi. I'm new to MD and do not yet have one. I could probably buy a Sony MDS-JA30ES and Sony MZ-R91 secondhand combo for a reasonable price. My use would be recording CD's and perhaps every now and then a radio program using the analog-in's. I'm tempted because in general ES series Sony audio equipment are pretty good. However, this is an older model and used. What would I gain and miss buying the combo compared to buying a new Sony portable like 707 or a similar new product? Is there a significant difference in audio quality between these, either analog or digital input? I guess the 30ES does not have the newer LP modes either but the info is hard to find. Anything else to consider?

Pennywhistler
The 30 uses ATRAC 4.5. http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDS-JA30ES.html
