Another Sharp (Recording) or Sony (Features) question

I've been reading through these forums to find the answer to which side of the minidisc pond should I pick from and I guess I need to answer the question directly.

I want NetMD and good quality recording, but good quality recording does rank higher in the priority list.

I need to use it for dictation and play back loud enough so I can hear the recording clearly on the Tube in London - which is noisy (Tried this with a an old 4 Track Recorder and Personal Stereo (Tape) with no joy)

I'd also like to use the NetMD feature to download MP3's etc and at a bearable speed.

I guess if either of these models can provide quality and loud playback I'm going with them because of the features: Sony: 910, N1or N10.

But, if they can't cut it on the recording front I'll be going with the Sharp: DR470.

Any help would be appreciated :-)

If i were you i'll wait for the Sharp Im-dr580.

:arrow: This model will be 'Net-MD' with a '50Xspeed transfert' and will have a good quality recording, like all the Sharp's models.

If not you have the Sharp Im-mt899 (16Xspeed tansfert) who is 'Net-MD'.

It's the only one you can find now with Sharp.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'll purchase the DR470. The MT889 is £230 for not much more in improvement in download speeds. The new model will take too long to hit the UK at a price tag of £240 probably. I'll just errr, put up with the slow download speeds...

FYI, the Sharp IM-DR80 (Japanese version of 580) NetMD/1-bit model will be available in the states Sept 22 through outwardsound.com, looks like $320 - 330 USD will be initial pricing.
