Guest Anonymous
Hello! I'm new here...I did the hack for my 707 and it works great on mostly all the features! Now i want to know if it's possible to get the THE 6 BAND EQ AND V-SURROUND feature on my 707? do i need a special remote for this feature? is there a page where i can find instruction? I'm sorry if this has been asked before. Thanks in advance, Joe
mAjEsTiC
the N707 cannot have 6 band EQ or V-surround settings since this wasn't introduced in this series...(i.e. the models N1/N707/N505) it was introduced when the N10 came out and the models there after (i.e. N10/N910/NF810/N710...etc) so the only sound controls that you can do is change the Bass and Trebble settings... Guest Anonymous
Thanks Majestic for the quick responce!!! Too bad it won't work would be great to hear the surround sound feature bummer  ...i was thinking of getting Sony MZ-R909 what is your opinion on this model i heard it's better than the N10 because of the batteries. Which model do you own? Thanks, Joe Bala

mAjEsTiC
oh u mean the N910??? well i kinda wanted to buy this model over my N10 (but since it was a present i don't really mind my N10) and yes i quite like the battery time on the N910...but basically i could call it a flagship Sony unit so all the bells and whistles that you expect from the N10 but with longer battery life and different button placements...=) i own a few MD units actually...my most recent recorders are the MZ-N1 and N10 plus two players which include the Sharp DS8 and the Sony MZ-E10... Guest Anonymous
Yes the n910 so many lol different models! So i see you like Sharp as well. To tell you the truth i love the sound on my old Sharp MD-MT15 (The recording doesn't work anymore but it plays great!) better than the 707. I was considering earlier this year between 2 sharp models Sharp MD-DS8 (your model...do you like it?)/ MD-DR7...but i got the 707 model which is great...But in my opinion the Sharp has a better sound what do you think? Plus i want to record some concerts my main reason for buying one. I see there is a new sharp model MD-DS70 any thoughts on it? mAjEsTiC
yes i quite like my Sharp unit...i've had an Aiwa player a few years back and i thought it was pretty good as well... but otherwise my impression on the sharp unit (DS8) is that it's nicely built with great sound...very great unit and i have no regrets buying it...my views on the new DS70 is that looks like a very nice unit and a good update to the DS8...in terms of sound i would say that Sharp has the edge over Sony in terms of bass since it packs a hell ova punch...though i can't complain much about Sony either..it's adequate for its purpose... Guest Anonymous
Hi Majestic, Thanks for all the tips! I'm thinking of getting theSharp IM-DR80 (www.audiocubes.com $339.00 just added today i think) or MD-DR7(Audiocubes $239.00) I ordered the Mini-Cardio mics from Microphone Madness in June tried them with my Sony n707 to record a concert by Terence Trent Darby (great show!!!) but the sound was distorded just like the others have said in the threads. Was wondering if you could recommend a battery pack for the Sharp MD (or is the preamp on the sharp good enough?) or is it mostly needed for sonys n707? Thanks, Joe
mAjEsTiC
the amp on the sharp unit should be good enough...but with the distortion i think you should adjust the levels manually and see if that works out and gets rid of most of the distortion due to clipping...but if it is indeed the fact that the mics are the main source of the problem then i suggest that you go and order like a better pair if u want to do a lot of live recordings...it will be better in the long run IMO if you invest in a good quality mic... Guest Anonymous
Hey Majestic, Do you know how to make the Sony MZ- R900 louder? Mine is so low in volume, is there a trick? Thanks!
mAjEsTiC
Hey Majestic, Do you know how to make the Sony MZ- R900 louder? Mine is so low in volume, is there a trick? Thanks!not to my knowledge...just try basically putting both the bass and treble levels to max and listen to it...the 5mW per channel output of the R900 should be sufficient for most people...i have to agree that it wasn't as powerful as the old Sharp units but it does sound relatively good...otherwise try with different headphones or listening to a different disc...because from what i've heard on my old R900 unit the sound is perfectly fine...
