Guest Anonymous
Hi there, So first of all, I'm sorry if this is a silly and/or asked-daily question, but I just happened upon this forum and thought I would ask. A friend recently got a sony 510 md recorder... and i was hoping to borrow it and do some live recording. Of course, I then noticed that there isn't a mic input. So my question is (that's right, I don't really know anything) whether one can do decent recording via the line-in and, if so, what would I need? That is, is there a specific mic that would be suited for this, would I need a pre-amped mic, another special device, etc.? Thanks in advance for the help. mAjEsTiC
yes it is possible to make a decent recording with the unit's line in provided you get a reasonable powered mic unit to record from...
Guest Anonymous
Thanks - if anyone has any more insight, re: what type of mic to use, etc., I'd love to hear it. Sony people (i.e. employees) have been giving me the impression that this can't be done. I"m not sure if they're uninformed, deceitful, or correct. mAjEsTiC
if you wanted to buy some powered mics made by Sony then you can take a look at the models ECMMS907, ECMZS90, ECMMS957 or ECMT145...these all feature a seperate power supply and depending on your needs it will determine which mic is best for you...hope this helps... Guest Anonymous
Yep, they are just uninformed. You can record, as long as you have a mic with a power supply (eg. battery). However, if you have a mic powered by a 9V battery, this will provide better volume.
Guest Anonymous
Hey, I need to buy this by Saturday, so I need a very quick answer. Are there any cheap, widely available plugs that increase the volume of the microphone into my MD recorder? I have a 510, and an Audio Technica ATR25 microphone (AApower). The mic comes with a cable that goes into the "line out" of the microphone, and on the other end of the cable is the line-in that goes into the Lline-In of the MD. So any cheap widely available cables that say, amplify the line level or what? (heres an example of hte cable) (mic)____(cable input that goes into mic)__(output)__(md recorder)_ C------___<--------------------------------------->_____o|__________| So could I find an example of a widely available cable that i can get in melbounre australia that increases the voluem?
