I know it's a bit old, but I can't afford to buy a new one. If I can fix it for nothing, it'd be worth it.

ok well, my sister borrowed for a while, and when she gave it back, some of the screws had fallen out, and it refused to play.

Description of the problem:

- The eject "button" on the side doesn't work as smoothly as it used to.

- Play or Record buttons won't work.

I was thinking that it won't Play or Record because the eject function is not working properly.

If you'd like me to post photos, I can do that.

i'm taking it that this is the model with the side slot mechanism...if so then i suggest that you open the top panel up (the one with the LCD) and take a look at how the eject slide works...if i have time i will take pictures and post them up here showing you how to get the eject slider working again...and future love one question i have is what exactly did you mean when you asked if the eject button was automatic??? did u mean the auto eject mechanism that sony uses?? or was it something totally differet???
