Guest Anonymous
Is there a way to record songs from my laptop IEEE connection to my minidisc? Is there a cable I can buy that provides this?
mAjEsTiC
sorry but i have to ask u which IEEE connection that u are talking about??? is it IEEE1349 (Firewire) or was it something else???
Guest Anonymous
mAjEsTiC - it is the iLink from sony. I think that's the IEEE 1349 standard. My minidisc is also a Sony.
mAjEsTiC
ah rite iLink is firewire...yeh i also own a VAIO and they use a 4pin iLink (IEEE1349) port...but back to ur original question..no you cannot transfer music across via firewire...NetMD use the USB protocol to transfer data across and firewire use its own protocol and the 2 rn't backward compatible (not to mention they are rival formats)...so no there isn't a cable that allows you to do this... Guest Anonymous
mAjEsTiC - thanks again for you help cuz that saves me time searching high and low for a possible solution. Another question if you don't mind. Will something like the Xitel DC2 work with a non NetMD? I have the MZ-R91. I curently use a SDDI cable to connect to my desktop, but I'm getting rid of my desktop and will only have my laptop, which has either the iLink or USB. Will the DC2 work? or are there other options for digital recording?
mAjEsTiC
the DC2 would work from PC -> MD since it uses a USB -> Toslink connection...this is like a digital out from a USB port and you can connect a non-NetMD unit or even a NetMD unit to it via its OPTIC jack...bear in mind the recording is done in real-time so whether or not you connect up a non-NetMD unit or a NetMD capable unit there's not going to be a difference in transfer times...
