Guest Anonymous
okay kids I broke the remote that came with my MZ-N510. it looks like Im faced one of those fancy backlit LCD remotes as my only option for replacement. but I have a few questions I need answered before I shell out the $60 or so to get one. 1. Will it work with the MZ-N510? - That is; will the remote's screen light up and will track information be displayed on said remote? the old remote was a non-LCD; so does the player still send all the extra LCD information along even though it wasnt designed with an LCD remote? 2. Does the backlight stay on all the time? - Im sure it would do considerable battery drain if it were just lit up all the time; but if it doesnt light up all the time how do you control it? is there a button you press and it lights up? does it only light up when you press a button (and turns off after a few seconds of inactivity?). how does it work? thanks a lot! ~Lu
mAjEsTiC
i would say a cautious yes to the backlit lcd remotes working on the N510...i'm not 100% sure since i've never used this unit or tried it with any of my remotes...the backlight however does NOT stay on all the time...it fades out after a few seconds when it senses that you hav'n activated any button on the remote...to turn it on again just press any of the buttons or jog the shuttle control at the side to activate the backlight again... future love
You can't have all the time the backlight on the RM-MC11EL. On the new RM-MC33EL, you have a function in the menu of the n910 and the n10 (i don't know for the others): Options --> backlight --> > 'on' You have all the time the backlight > 'off' You haven't got the backlight > 'auto' You only have the backlight when you press a button I know that the RM-MC11EL was working on the mz-n505 so i'm quite sure that the RM-MC33EL works on the mz-n510. You will have all the informations on your remote control: title, time, singer...
mAjEsTiC
but beware with the 33EL remote that the button arrangement on the remote get changed when using the remote on the first generation md units...

n17ikh
Interesting, I was looking at that exact remote for my N510. If you get it, post us a review so we can see how well it works. Of course, if I get it first I'll be here posting as soon as I get it
pata2001
I have the N510ck, and the 33el from a CD walkman, and they work great, no remapping of buttons. I even tried an older remote (MC10L), and it also worked fine. The backlight turns on when u press a button or change volume, and turns off after several seconds. I don't think there are settings to turn it on/off all the time on the N510 (not mentioned anywhere in the manual).
Mr ed
Would a 35el remote work then, the guide here lists it as compatible with the 33el. I can only find a 33l (non backlight version) for sale online.
