hi,

i'm looking at the Sony MZ-N510 and i'm wondering if it will hook up with the optical out of my sony hifi for recording direct from CD to MD?

i have a mix of CDs and MP3s that i want to record to MD, so can anyone recommend a good solution? from reading around, i think i'll take advantage of the optical out wherever possible for better fidelity. it's for car audio only that i'll be using for MD playback, so a deck or portable solution is fine.

one last thing, i've been looking at a Sony MDS-SP55 deck, and i can't get any specs on it, seems like a german model, it's on ebay at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...2&category=4786 if anyone would have an opinion on whether it will meet my needs.

thanks!

tim

usually when it says the MD can accept digital in (OPTIC IN) it usually means that the unit can accept a 3.5mm TOSLink cable for digital recording from a source...the soundcards at present accept both a proprietary Creative Digital Out jack for their speaker sets (can't be used with anything other than their speakers), SPDIF interface and a TOSLink interface....the usual one includes the TOSLink interface using a square connector for output so you'd be fine if you had a soundcard with this connection...
