Guest Anonymous
Is the MZ-707 compatible with a Power Mac G4 that has an 'Audio line-in port'? (see link below for the MZ-797 specs.) http://www.planetminidisc.com/mz-r707blue.html I need to record live voices from interviews with people with the MZ-707 and then transfer these recordings to a Macintosh G4 computer that has an Audio line-in port. I want to eventually end up with .aiff files so that I can put these into QuickTime and iMovie. What format does the MZ-707 record from a microphone? I read somewhere that I can't get music from a Mac to the above minidisk. That does not bother me, though, because I have an iPod. I only need to get live recordings of people to my Mac. If anyone else has any other suggestions for a relatively lower-priced Minidisk for the above purpose please let me know. I am thinking of purchasing the Sony ECM-DS70P microphone (see link below) Will this work with the MZ-707? http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/ss5/o...70p_specs.shtml Thanks for all of your help and I apologize for my ignorance in the minidisk-recording arena. I need to do this for a project for my wife that needs to make an educational video (hopefully more than one) that will be used in local area schools. Thanks, Lou
sudden
If you haven't bought the MD yet I say get a Sharp unit instead. Much better than Sony in every aspect. However the 707 will do the jobb if you record in low volume areas only like speech and so (loud music is a no no). Plug headphone out to line in on your Mac then record (I don't own a Mac so I don't know how that is done). The ECM-DS70P is an exelent mic I'm told. It even got internal battery so you may be able to plug into line in and not the weak mic in. Better sound is possible that way.
