Guest Anonymous
Hey, Right now I have a sony Mdr-500 Minidisc player and also Sennheiser PX 200 headphones. This combination does not sound very good. I think it is because my MD does not have very much power. These headphones do however sound very good from an amplifier. So I was wondering if anybody has used these headphones with any Sharp MD with 1 bit amp? If so, how good does it sound? thanks
Guest Anonymous
I'm awaiting receipt of a Sharp IMDR420 and already have a pair of Koss Porta Pro headphones which I believe are comparable to the PX-200's. When I have tested both units together ... will post the results
Fernando Olmos
I'm awaiting receipt of a Sharp IMDR420 and already have a pair of Koss Porta Pro headphones which I believe are comparable to the PX-200's. When I have tested both units together ... will post the resultsI don't know about Sony models, but the Sharp preamps (SR70, MT99, MT888) are very poor in terms of volume. Of course it depends on the headphones and earbuds you use (something with impedence over 32% is a MUST), but I have a pair of JBL cheap headphones (impd. at 36%) and this has "increased" the volume considerably on the above models. There is also a post-amp you can attach between the unit and the headphones to give you up to 4 or 5 watts of volume, which is enough to make you deaf! Sorry I don't recall the retailer. Guest Anonymous
The results so far from my DR420HS and Koss Porta Pros are stunning .... I can report no problems regarding output volumes.....
Christopher
Fernando needs to hear an Auvi. Sharp's latest 1-bit digital amp products are very nice, with a clean and extremely pure sound that is somewhat marred by a low output. Not really low output, but lack of headgear that is compatible with it's 4-pole interface. When you use a headphone/earphone that has a 3-pole plug in a 4-pole plug interface, you're only getting a glimpse of the output, whereas if you do employ a 4-pole plug the digital amp really hits you [the two channel seperation is very evident]. Right now, there is limited equipment that employs the 4-pole plug, and is available at audiocubes.com. The Sharp HD-MD33 earbud would suit you well. Superbaldguy
I recently got a set of PX200's and have had wonderful results with the weedy 5 mW Sony amp. They need to be burned in for a good 50 hours to get the full bass. At first, the little Senns struggled but now they're excellent. Output is surprisingly good, as I did not expect to get much more than my KSC-35's. They appear to be significantly louder than my D22's, which aren't too shabby. The PX200's offer WAY more isolation than the junior Eggos, for sure. I wish I had the D66's to do a better comparison. One little extra that I like about the PX200's is the straight 3.5mm plug. Most portable cans have a right-angled one which I actually find an annoyance. Cheers. Enjoy the PX200's.
