GnatGoSplat_
Do even non-Sony branded NetMD recorders use OpenMG or SonicStage? Also, is anyone working on figuring out the PCM encryption?
marcnet
I was working on cracking the encryption... but Im not a maths genious. If you can tell me 1) how to crack an encryption algorithm that I have no idea how it works. 2) What keys are used, Are keys used, where the keys are used 3) How to reverse engineer code that has IsDebuggerActive() calls in it. Bareing in mind that this call is made from the return value of GetProcAddress and is not linked directly.
Guest Anonymous
I could take a look if someone will post a USB data log of say 500K of transfered data, and a real copy of the song transferred...
bertrik
Shadowmite, check out this site for some logs http://students.washington.edu/youshi10/freenetmd/ (good luck) B.T.W. I think I'm getting a pretty good idea about what data sent over USB is random, (encrypted) keys, hash and encrypted data. The encryption scheme looks like an implementation of a Sony patent (don't know the number right now, I'll look it up). I have some clues that the actual core encryption algorithm is DES. bertrik
The encryption system used in NetMD is probably the one described in this patent by Sony: http://v3.espacenet.com/textdoc?CY=ep&LG=e...86495&DB=EPODOC The patent however does not say what encryption algorithm (e.g. DES, RC4, RC5) is used.
