dubbing to tape

I have Sony MZ-N10 and ECM-F01 microphone. Any attempt to dubb live recording from the MD to tape recorder results in the one channel recording on the cassette (only L channel). I tried different things but nothing seemed to help. Because the microphone is MONO, I recorded to the MD in the MONO mode, and when I listened to this recording from the MD I could hear both channels. However, when I tried to transfer it with the mono cord, stereo cord or stereo cord with mono adaptors, the sound on the tape was again on the one-channel only. I don't care that recording is mono, I just want it to be hearable on both ears, because transcriber will probably lose her mind otherwise...

Thanks for your suggestions!

try ripping the track onto your PC and use Nero Wave Editor or Adobe Audition or any other program that allows you to copy the sound signature from the left channel to the right channel and then record it on tape...easiest way i know of to make a "stereo" (be able to hear through both channels) track through a mono recording...

Looks like the problem lies with the tape recorder.

If the minidisc is definately outputting in both channels then the problem is somewhere outside of the MD player. Try a different cassette recorder, preferably one with VU meters where you can see the sound levels for yourself.
