Guest Anonymous
Is it possible to download the content of my MD (Sony MZ-N505) on a computer? I'm assuming the ATRAC3 files would be generated with some technique that creates them free from "check-in check-out" strings... Can I fill my MD and then download it on my friend's computer? Guest Anonymous
I'm also wondering if it is possible to create ATRAC3 file Check Free without putting them on the MD... I mean...the Nero/DaemonTools/WMP methods only work if you upload the files "on the fly" to the MD. This way you have NOTHING on your hard-drive. My dream is to convert Gigabytes and Gigabytes of MP3 into the MOOOOOORE compact ATRAC3-LP4 files...then burn them all on 1 or 2 CDs (instead of 8 or 9)... That would be great! BerkY
Yes you can copy music to your friends computer. The simplest way is analog recording. Just connect your MD from the LINE OUT to the LINE IN of your friends soundcard... And then record the music in realtime by playing it... Coming to your second question, there is no way you can backup music without check-out limitations. When you burn them on the CD and format the hard-drive you wont be able to import the music to sonicstage hence, you wont be able to listen to it. There should be an ATRAC plug-in for winamp though but i am not so sure. If there is one then you can burn the music files in ATRAC LP4 format on the hard drive and then burn them files on a CD... Then with the plug-in you can play them through winamp. I have read it somewhere but I havent seen the plug-in... sowwy about that one
Guest Anonymous
Thanks a lot! And now a dumb question... which kind of device/cable do I need to connect the MD to the soundcard? and which program will let me record it on the computer? Bazirker
What you need is a male mini-stereo jack (1/8th inch size) to male mini-stereo jack. Basically it's a cable that looks like it has the plug for the headphones jack on both ends. You plug one end of the cable into your md unit's headphones jack and the other end into the computer's line-in jack. Turn up the volume all the way and turn off any bass boost stuff on your 505. On the PC, you can use about a zillion different free programs to record from the line in. Nero 6's wave editor can do it, I think Musicmatch and WMP can do it, winamp might even be able to do it with the appropriate plugins.
