Guest Anonymous
Hi, Looking at buying a recordable MD and have my eyes on this particular model but need to be sure before i plunk down the coin. I have perused this forum and believe i have my answers .. but need to make sure ... again .. before i spend money i don't have. My primary use for this recorder is to record band practice and the like. It doesn't have to be perfect ... but it should sound nice enough to get the gist of what happens during practice. Questions/Assumptions: - I can record live as long as i have a powered mic since the 505 doesn't have a mic in. ? - Recording using the line-in and powered mic should work "as well" as using a recorder that has a mic-in. ? - I can adjust the input level on the MD recorder. But I cannot adjust it on the fly. ? - The 505 is the cheapest unit that can do these things. ? - For what i am trying to accomplish ... (live recordings from a powered mic with adjustable level control) the 505 unit should work well for me. ?? !! ?? - Is there something that i haven't thought of that should sway my opinion to or away from this unit? Again .. I'm just trying to be sure that i don't get huge buyers remorse from purchasing a MD recorder that doesn't work for my situation. Any info is helpful. thank you Dig ><>
mAjEsTiC
heyy there, i'll answer ur q's 1st b4 i elaborate on them... I can record live as long as i have a powered mic since the 505 doesn't have a mic in. ? - Recording using the line-in and powered mic should work "as well" as using a recorder that has a mic-in. ? - I can adjust the input level on the MD recorder. But I cannot adjust it on the fly. ?yup that's right 4 all 3 q's... - The 505 is the cheapest unit that can do these things. ?from Sony yes... - For what i am trying to accomplish ... (live recordings from a powered mic with adjustable level control) the 505 unit should work well for me. ?? !! ?? - Is there something that i haven't thought of that should sway my opinion to or away from this unit?the 505 unit would work alright but i would recommend that u take a look at the Sharp DR470 or DR420 units...they offer more features that u'd like to have such as adjusting levels on the fly as well as a powered mic input...that and Sharp recorders are reknown for making really good units 4 live recording...IMO their quality of live recording are unsurpassed by any other company including Sony... feel free to ask any other questions you might have... mAjEsTiC
u can import them from japan through many various online retailers...Japan-Direct i have used personally and would recommend them to you...they should stock up on them...otherwise you could try T-Station or Minidisco...
