Guest Anonymous
I just made my first disc yesterday. After installing the software, I put in my CDs in the Cd drive. I thought all I was doing when I put them in was transfering the songs from the CD onto my MD. But I am able to play all the songs straight off the computer. So are all the songs copied onto my computer hard drive too? If so do I need them on there? I would like to delete them becuase I don't need them and I could use the space, but I cant find them on my hard drive. Any help would be appreciated. mAjEsTiC
you can find where the OpenMG/SonicStage puts the .omg files : For SonicStage : by just clicking on the Menu button on the bottom left then go to Options...from there there should be an option on the left box called Location to save the recorded files...clicking on that will show you where SonicStage puts them....just copy and paste that directory into Windows Explorer and go to that directory and delete all the .omg files there... For OpenMG : this is a similar method since OpenMG and SonicStage are essentially the same program just with a different GUI (though OpenMG 2.2 and SonicStage 1.2 look exactly alike...) Go to the menu on the top bar called Tools then Options the from there a box will pop up with a few tabs on the top...clicking on the one named CD Recording/Playing 1 and going about 1/2 down the screen you will see an option called Settings for CD Recording and below that a box where it tells you the Location to save the recorded file...copy and paste this in Windows Explorer to open up the directory and delete the .omg files... PaulBennett
Majestic, if you are still hanging around...please clue me into the two sofware programs. SonicStage and OpenMG. I know they only come bundled with Sony products and my local Sony dealer sales clerks seem to know nothing except the sales price and descriptions ebay are lacking plus many used boxes on eBay don't come with software which seems ominous. I am looking to get an Sony Atrak CD and a R707 (now have a R900). It sounds like the major function of these 2 programs are for copy protection lockout licensing or for web downloading which I don't. I don't really understand the function of the software apart from atrak compression. Can you clue me in in 80 words or more?
mAjEsTiC
basically these two programs convert your music files or audio CD's into ATRAC3 format...this format is protected by MagicGate (MG) encryption which basically doesn't allow copying of these files over to another PC that it wasn't checked out from...you can change whatever music files to this format to transfer over (whether from Audio CD or mp3/wma/wav) to the unit but it won't allow you to transfer back to another PC which you didn't originally transfer the songs over from (if that makes any sense)...all Sony units rely on their proprietary ATRAC3(Plus) encoding nowdays so u need to convert it in order for them to read them...(well the MS Duo mp3 player and NetMD units...the mp3 CD player reads a range of files though)
