Can NetMD record real time w/ digital PC link like MZ R700??

I use to own MZ R700 and MZ R900 and the best feature on it is that i can record real time any sounds that come from the computer. Is this possible with the NetMD's? I am not interested in downloading songs and then ripping them; I want to record live sessions and radio shows. I am ont sure cause all I am hearing is that you have to use Sony's sowtware to rip the songs onto the mini disk.

NetMD recorder are basically the same thing as your R900 (has recording functions and input jacks) but with NetMD capability...NetMD downloader can only "download" music from PC -> MD and cannot record anything as it doesn't have any input jacks to do so...

When you say there is no input jacks, what exactly do you mean. Digital PC link on R700 nd R900 goes into regular input jack, just like the one on Net MDs, I am just curious will Net MD recognise the sound?

what i mean is that NetMD downloaders do not feature a Mic In or Optical In jacks...they only feature a USB connection point and a headphone output jack...and what do you mean by will NetMD recognise sound? i'm not entirely sure what you're asking there sorry...

Actually I think you answered my question. I thought that NetMDs have optical input jacks like R700 and R900. What I meant was if i put digital PC link in an input jack on Net MD, nothing would happen, since Net MD wouldn't recognise it?

well the Digtal PC link i'm taking it as being an Optical output from the computer??? as i said before there are two types of NetMD units...the NetMD recorders such as the N & NF series from Sony and DR series from Sharp do have these recording inputs that allow you to record from any source and also allow you to transfer music from PC -> MD...but the NetMD downloaders such as the Aiwa units and NE series from Sony do not have those inputs and can only download music from PC -> MD...
