Guest Anonymous
of my band. I've been using MD for a few years. The biggest pain is having to upload in real time. If I understand the announcement, I'll be able to upload at USB 2.0 speeds, which will be a vast improvement. What I haven't figured out is what format it will upload to. What I want to do is get it into CoolEdit for editing. Will I be able to do that or will uploading result in files that can't be converted to mp3 or wav? [i've never used MD for listening to prerecorded music, so I'm unfamiliar with ATRAC, similar formats, and assoicated software. When I got my MZ-N707, I put the CD aside and never looked at it.] Thanks! --BriAnn
Guest Anonymous
This is exactly what i want to know too! Anyone have thoughts on this? Responses would be greatly appreciated! Brendan
highlandsun
The new HiMD supports USB 1.1, not USB 2.0. The available formats are already listed in the published specs. You can choose ATRAC3plus or PCM for uploadable live recordings. PCM would be simplest if you want to edit it directly. Anything else needs to be decoded to PCM format anyway. Leland
In the event that the upload goes directly into Sonicstage and is thereby transcoded into ATRAC 3, here is one way out. IF you have a Sony brand PC, you can copy songs in your Sonicstage database to CD-R or CD-RW, thereby converting them to .WAV format for use in other applications. This capability is disabled for Sonicstage used on non-Sony computers. It also provides assurance that you can top up your checkout count, as you could make a CD-RW and delete then add back the track you've checked out too many times.
